The United States Bowling Congress Hall of Fame Committee has announced candidate criteria and nomination procedures for the USBC Hall of Fame.

The USBC Hall of Fame will honor superior performance in professional, non-professional and veterans categories as well as meritorious service. Non-professional, veterans and meritorious service candidates will be voted on by the committee while professional nominees will be determined by national ballot. There will be a male and female division with separate balloting for each.

To be considered for nomination in the superior performance categories the following criteria will apply to candidates:

Non-professional category
  • Be at least 40 years old.
  • Have 20 years of participation in USBC-approved national events: USBC Open and Women's Championships (ABC and WIBC Tournaments), Masters, Queens, Senior Masters and Senior Queens. (Only one event per year will be credited regardless of the number of events in which the individual participated.)
  • Have a 200 or a 190 average (for men and women, respectively) for 20 years and/or have at least one top-10 finish in a USBC-approved national event.
  • Accomplishments in other national, international and other important bowling events also will be considered.
Professional category
  • Be at least 40 years old.
  • Have at least one professional (PBA, PWBA, LPBT) title.
  • Have the same USBC-approved participation requirements as non-professional category; however, the committee may waive those requirements.
Veterans category
  • Have been eligible for non-professional and professional category consideration for a minimum of 10 years.
  • The committee shall consider all other eligibility requirements listed under non-professional and professional categories.

For meritorious service consideration, a candidate must have made significant contributions for the good and welfare of the sport at the national and/or international level.

Hall of Fame nominations will come directly from the committee as well as from the field for both superior performance and meritorious service. Those who would like to nominate a candidate may request a player nomination form by contacting Barb Weitzer at (800) 514-BOWL, ext. 3356. Download the nomination form here. Nominations must be submitted by Sept. 30.

The USBC Hall of Fame Committee will meet Nov. 5 to elect non-professional, veterans and meritorious service candidates and will determine nominees for the professional national ballot.

The first USBC Hall of Fame induction ceremonies will be held during the organization's first convention April 19-23, 2006, in Orlando, Fla.
